I’ll show you how you can change your drag into a hooray. Is your dream to be your own boss, have your own business? Do you have some awesome ideas you know the world needs to hear about? BUT….there is your job. It is a job you don’t really like but it is necessary. You have to provide for your family or you simply feel safer having a job that provides for your needs.
I understand that. I have been there a few years ago. I worked an administrative job to be able to say “I have an income.”. It was my first big job after moving to the US. Oh, I so did not like it. I dragged going to work but I felt I had to – like every responsible adult.
Living a Life of EASE
Here is the secret to living a life of ease instead of drag. Ok, it is not really a secret but we often forget about it or get so wrapped up in our daily routine that we are losing sight of what really matters and how we actually WANT to feel.
The first time my own coach asked me the question: “What would your life look like from wholeness?”, I was like “huh? I only have one life. What does that really mean?”. Well, it means that everything in your life is part of the big picture. How can my family, my hobby, my desires, my community, my friends – and the list goes on – be part of my HUGE WHY, my message, my vision?
Your Job as part of the Whole
The same goes for your current job you may not really like. Ask yourself: How can your job be part of something bigger instead of “just” being it your job? For example, your current job might teach you some valuable lessons and skills you will need in the world of entrepreneurs. Maybe it supports you in learning how to effectively connect with people even if they are not your favorite peeps. Your job also could allow you to create a financial foundation for you to be able to “survive” as entrepreneur. I believe that God has us experience certain situations and circumstances for a reason. The biggest change I recognized was when I finally understood that if I don’t honor what I have right in front of me, I will take more steps backward than forward. Once I start experiencing certain situations as an opportunity, honoring where I am at, I am able to experience amazing breakthroughs. I no longer wish for things to be different because that creates feelings of lack which in the end attracts more feelings of “lack” and “missing out”.
Every single day, I PRACTICE to be in the moment, be present and honor what God puts in front of me. In other words: “Prosper where you are planted and God will bless you with more” (similar statements can be found in Psalms and the book of Jeremiah). The more I can learn, the faster I move toward my bigger goals. This requires a lot of intentions for your day and how you want it to go. However it is so worth it to practice exactly that – to prosper where you are planted. In the end you are the one running a marathon and winning it, too.
If your life appears to you like hundreds of different puzzle pieces but you can’t seem to get the whole picture together, you are not playing BIG enough. Is your faith big enough? Are you in action according to what is absolutely possible for you? Is your Why big enough?
So, the best indicator for you to understand if you are on your way of reaching your goals and living your purpose: Take a look at how everything in your life can fit together. If that’s not the case then you need to evaluate which part you might have to let go of to be able to honor your current situation and learn from it. Stop dreaming, start creating, be creative!
Questions for you to ask yourself:
1) What purpose can you give current “obstacles” that are not exactly part of your dream?
2) Where can you change your way of thinking to experience life from ease instead of drag?
3) Where may you have to think outside of the box?
